Is enforcement of a low-value claim through the sale of real estate permissible?

On 25 April 2017, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) issued its decision in the case of Vaskrsić v. Slovenia. The Court ruled that enforcement of claim for a debt of EUR 124 through the sale of real estate constitutes a breach of Protocol No. I to the European Convention of Human Rights.

Changes in the sectoral collective agreements

It has been quite an active summer for social partners. After concluding several amendments to sectoral collective agreements for metal materials and foundries, woodworking as well as catering and tourism, which increased both the minimum salaries and the amounts of annual holiday leave, the social partners adopted an extensive annex to the Collective Agreement for Slovenia’s Trade Sector and a new Collective Agreement of Slovenian Electricity Industry.

Supreme Court ruling on police force "surplus hours"

After nearly 4 years, the issue of payment of "surplus hours" in the police force reached an epilogue with the ruling of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Slovenia (Supreme Court). Though the ruling addresses the regulation of police officers' working hours, it also provides certain answers regarding the offsetting of working time where working time is distributed irregularly and responsibility on the part of the employer regarding the organisation of working time.
