Changes in the Area of Employment of Foreigners

In October, legislation governing work and employment of foreigners in Slovenia underwent significant changes. Namely, an amendment to the Employment, Self-employment and Work of Foreigners Act, as well as an amendment to Foreigners Act were adopted (both of which will enter into force on 1 January 2018), whereas a new Agreement on Employment of Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Slovenia came into effect on 1 November 2017.

Cultivation of GMOs in Slovenia

With the adoption of Directive (EU) 2015/412 in March 2015, the European Union made it possible for Member States to restrict or prohibit the cultivation of Genetically Modified Organisms in their national territories. Slovenia immediately availed of such possibility, preventing onward the cultivation of GMOs in Slovenia.

Claiming compensation through collective actions

The prime focus of the new Class Action Act, which will be applied on 21 April 2018 is a collective redress institute that allows private individuals or companies to jointly claim compensation in essentially similar cases.
