As a result, the European Union has started to focus its legislation on promoting the reduction of unnecessary waste from "defective" goods. To make business more sustainable and implement the European Green Deal, the European Commission has drafted a Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union formally adopted the Directive at the end of November 2022, which entered into force on 5 January this year. The Directive introduces new obligations, and undertakings required to report under the Directive should start preparing to comply as soon as possible.
